How is your basic business admin looking these days? You know what I’m talking about – those tasks that should be done regularly to keep you working efficiently yet somehow something more important, more urgent or more interesting comes up and you justify a shift in your focus, with a sigh, shake of the head and a promise to yourself that “I’ll get back to it soon”! This sound familiar? Then this blog series is for you.
Over the next few weeks I will dive into the basics of every Solopreneur’s back office admin. Those tasks that you know should be easy to do yet seem so hard to get done because in your mind they don’t look easy. Tasks such as keeping your desk and work area organised and clean, your computer desktop clean and sorted, backing up your data, checking your emails to prioritise emails to be dealt with as well as emptying your inbox of junk mail, checking your calendar ensuring its up to date and let’s not forget planning and mindset. Yes, your mindset!
Like with everything in life and business, your mindset plays a crucial part and I will explain a bit more about that plus how to start shifting it from ‘this is a pain in the ‘you know what’ to ‘okay, I got this’.
My aim with theses posts is to provide you starter points so you can get things under control yourself and also provide you moral support along the way.
These are the topics I’ll cover over the next few posts:
- Gain an overview of your current business admin tasks
- Your mindset towards your business admin
- Organise a general, basic tidy up
- How to organise your emails
- The best way to organise & utilise your calendar(s)
- Business tools & apps
- Future planning & keep your mindset strong
I truly believe that stripping things back to basic and using a simple approach takes away the stress and frustration when it comes to business tasks that we REALLY don’t like doing.
Simplicity is one of my favourite words, and I hope you will agree with me by the end of this series.
In my next post I will look at where and how to start tackling your unruly business admin.
For now, I will leave you with the following quote:
